PORTALS OF THE NATION
Created in celebration of the National Day of the United Arab Emirates, this series reimagines the doorway as a symbol of heritage, pride, and belonging. Each door painted in the colors of the UAE flag or adorned with its emblem becomes more than an entryway; it is a passage into memory, identity, and unity.

From the traditional fort walls to the adorned gates of villages, these doors speak of resilience and continuity. They honor the legacy of the past while opening toward the promise of the future. In their vibrant reds, greens, blacks, and whites, they reflect both the strength of the federation and the warmth of its people.
This work is not only a tribute to the nation’s founding, but also a reminder that every threshold we cross carries with it the story of home, community, and celebration.
Through the Burga: Forts of the Seven Emirates. (y.2022.2nd of december)
This collaged artwork pays homage to the enduring symbols of Emirati heritage, its historic forts. From Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi to Fujairah. Each fort stands as a guardian of memory, resilience, and identity.
The viewer encounters these landmarks through the frame of the Burga, the traditional face covering once worn by Emirati women. Here, the Burga becomes more than an ornament; it transforms into a lens of heritage, an intimate filter that invites us to see history through the eyes of those who preserved it.
By layering past and present, stone and stitch, this work celebrates the unity of the seven emirates each fort unique in character, yet together forming the foundation of the nation’s story.
